Cavalcade RS1A (1947)
(plastic tube table radio)

Cavalcade RS1A (1947)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

I call it Poor man's Catalin! "Eye Candy" for sure. One picture is worth a thousand words! Very rare, highly sought after make & model. The Cavalcade RS-1 is a vintage tabletop, five-tube, AM-band tube radio, likely manufactured under license or as a rebadged unit, potentially by a company like Promenette or Viz, known for its simple design and solid performance for its era, popular among vintage radio collectors. Manufactured in Philadelphia Pennsylvania by the Molded Insulation Company in about 1947. These came in many different color combinations, and can be found with a number of different nameplates on front. Cavalcade is one brand name I’ve seen on several examples. The only flaw I can see is a small (1-inch) very slight warp on back left middle top (right in the groove) that I tried to capture in a photo. Beautiful ivory plastic. The heavy molded top, lots of molded grooves & curves even on sides and even bottom make it even more unique. Nice almond cabinet with accenting in the nameplate & red knobs. Five-tube AM band plays well with a long antenna. Slight hum until antenna is extended. Not sure about the restoration status, but plays well. Comes with the excellent cardboard back. The next best thing to Catalin; a collection centerpiece & a good investment! 8"W x 6"H x 5"D.
