![]() THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
| Very nice little Ivory/Red trim Plaskon midget. Sweet radio, with the coveted red trim including dial, knobs with clear numerals. The factory feet (not repro) that still are attached with the factory rivets (see in pic). The cabinet was designed for Detrola by George W. Walker who is best known for his work at Ford Motor Co & is noted for his design of the 1955 Thunderbird. There are no breaks, but does have the usual stresses or two, but not all that detracting (one very tight on top running 2-1/2" from back as seen in photo & two very small in grille area which show clearly in pics. Rare, nice original set that still displays well. The cardboard back is repro. Just about the most admired midget Bakelite radio, due to a number of details--is it the feet, the pronounced louvers, cute tuning dial, or the fact that it's so tiny? Whatever, these are always an eye-catcher. It is a very clean, compact chassis as you can imagine. It is a fairly recent restore electronically & plays very well across the dial picking up all my locals with the factory short antenna wire. It is just very, very difficult to find one of these in any condition much less good original. Great Deco appearance with the desirable color scheme & louvers, etc. You can easily hold in one hand. From my personal smoke free collection & ready for play/display. 6-1/2"W x 4-1/2"H x 4"D. |
