![]() THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
| Stromberg-Carlson Co. based in Rochester New York, made high-quality radios, telephones, and after WWII, televisions. They also entered the broadcast industry, acquiring WHAM in Rochester around 1939. The station changed its call letters to WBZA and is still in operation today. The 130-H is a seven-tube, three-band (SB, SWx2) radio. With its iconic octagon dial and gorgeous veneers, it is a top-of-the line radio. We replaced all of the capacitors with new equivalents. The resistors and tubes were checked and replaced where necessary. A safety fuse and a new power cord were installed, along with an audio input cable for external devices. We aligned the radio and it plays quite well across the dial. Most 130-H sets didn't have a tuning eye tube, but this one does, and I have seen a few of them; it may have been a dealer option, but I'm not positive about that. Gary did his usual masterful work in refinishing the cabinet. He completely stripped off the old finish, and using only the best products, ended up with a gorgeous "piano" lacquer finish. The knobs, speaker and chassis are original, and a reproduction grille cloth was installed. There hasn't been too many of them for sale on the Radio Attic, and they are a little harder to find than some of the other Stromberg-Carlson radios. 20"W x 11-1/2"H x 10"D. |
