Sonora WAU-243 (1939) With Calendar
(plastic tube table radio)

Sonora WAU-243 (1939) With Calendar

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!
A ONE-DAY WONDER!

This Sonora WAU-243 is a classic machine age designed radio from 1939. The original radio was available in ivory or midnight black. Due to numerous paint chips, this ivory case has been professionally repainted in its original midnight black color and now looks stunning. There are no cosmetic issues or damage. The radio is playing well and is tuning in all my local AM stations clearly. It has a Retro Tronics matching new back. The plastic pushbuttons on these sets are usually always badly deteriorated. But the ones on this Sonora are in perfect original condition. When the radio is turned on, the dial light shines up through the large original maroon top dial, indicating the station position. An original sales catalogue described this set as having "creative styling," "rare beauty," giving you "everlasting pleasure." Wow! We all need Everlasting Pleasure!! No other radio has ever quite been designed like this Sonora. About 10-1/2"W x 6-1/2"H x 6-1/2"D. I will include an original beautiful 1991 calendar featuring this Sonora, and 12 additional frameable pictures of collectable sets. There is even a section in the calendar with advice on "Radio Collecting. A fun Hobby."
