![]() THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD! |
An extreme machine age radio designed by John Vassos for RCA in 1938. Vassos' industrial design contributions at RCA spanned over 40 years, and included a Lucite plastic TV cabinet for the 1939 World's Fair. This is an extremely difficult radio to find in ivory Plaskon, more common in brown Bakelite. It has a very innovative beautifully lit dial that is part of a roller as you turn the dial knob. The dial lamp lights up the whole front. It has both AM and short wave bands. The radio is playing great picking up all my local AM stations, and some SW stations as well. You need to extend its antenna wire out for the best reception. The case is in really nice condition, just one short little hairline on a left vertical piece, hardly noticeable. It has a perfect Retro-Tronics back. About 10-1/2"W x 7-1/2"H x 7-1/2"D. |
