Regency TR-1G (1956)

 The first ever transistor pocket radio made was the Regency TR-1 in 1954. This was followed by the TR-1G in 1956. They both have the same chassis but the 1G is modified some for better performance. According to brochures it could pick up 40 miles away. Back in the 1950s there were three or four AM stations within ten miles and five or six within 25 miles, it was a working radio. This is a restored TR-1G. The electrolytic capacitors were replaced and it was align for peak performance. Back in the 1956 it ran on a 22-1/2V battery which is not made today. So there are two 12V batteries in a small battery box that run these and TR-1's. The closest AM stations I am near are both 25 miles and the Regency TR-1G picks both of them up. At night it picks up a lot more AM stations. You won't see many first Regency radios playing because most collectors leave them untouched. My radios play. Buy a piece of history that works. 4-3/4"H x 2-3/4"W x 1-3/8"D. $435.00. (0040529)
