 The first ever transistor pocket radio was the Regency TR-1. This was followed by the TR-1G and the TR-4. They all have the same chassis but the 1G and 4 were slightly modified for better performance. According to brochures it could pick up 40 miles away. Since there were one or two AM stations within 10 miles and 5 or 6 within 25 miles, it was a working radio. This is a restored TR-4. The electrolytic capacitors were replaced and it was align for peak performance. It runs on a 9 volt battery and leather case. It picks up two good stations where I live and they are 20 miles or more away. The local strong 1450 frequency went down. You won't see many first Regency radios playing because most collectors leave them untouched. My radios play and therefore I am a restorer and not a collector. You also won't see many of them for this price. Some TR-1's run thousands of dollars unrestored. Some TR-4's $800 or more unrestored. Buy a piece of history that works. $425.00. (0040522)
