Vintage Tunes Radios' Terms

Although new to the Radio Attic I am not new to the antique radio and electronics world. I have been an avid collector / restorer / dealer in antique tube electronics for just over 24 years. I have rebuilt / restored / shipped and sold over 500 radios nationwide and in over a dozen foreign countries.

What I do: First and foremost, I treat every radio with respect and admiration. Unless specifically mentioned in my sale ad, all my radios have been completely gone through. All electrolytic (filter) caps replaced. All coupler caps replaced. All resistors inspected and replaced as needed. All wires inspected and replaced as needed. All tubes checked and replaced as indicated. All controls inspected, cleaned, lubed and or replaced as needed. In almost all cases the power cords and plugs are replaced. Sometimes originals were retained if they were in very good condition although they will always be inspected and scrutinized.

I add aux inputs to some of the radios to increase their flexibility in delivering sound in our modern era. Aux inputs can provide outside music support for a variety of music applications. Some radios cannot and will not accept this modification. It does not inhibit the use of the original radio but is a very inconspicuous addition to the circuit. A Bluetooth/MP3 player 3.5mm cord or plug has been installed at no additional charge when the circuit design allows for another listening option beyond the standard AM broadcasts. You can plug in to the headphone port of your device and enjoy the music of your choice through the radio or unplug for standard AM broadcasts. I will note these in the sale literature.

Most cabinets have been restored in some way. Refinished, repainted, sanded / polished / buffed, whatever the process, it will be noted in the sale blurb. In some rare cases a completely original radio will be offered but it must be in very good condition and it too will be noted in the sale ad.

These are all restored vintage radios. They average 50+ to 80+ years. Although they are restored / refurbished and safe to operate, they will not have the sound, functionality or convenience of modern radios. If you want the fidelity of a new radio or surround sound, do not purchase one of my radios, you will be disappointed. If you seek vintage style, sound and that warm tube ambience...by all means, come on in and look around. You may find something you will just absolutely fall in love with.

A quick note about tube electronics: Some slight hum is expected while dealing with vintage tube electronics and modern appliances in modern homes. I have replaced the electrolytic filter caps and rebuilt the chassis on all my radios, but many modern conveniences have RF emitting wavelengths such as LED lighting, florescent lighting, modern internet routers, Wi-Fi routers, even doorbell transformers. So, there is a possibility that some slight hum will be present while moving from one station to another. This is, unfortunately, inevitable with our electronic lives as we know them.

I offer a quantity discount on my radios, so check out my other listings and drop me a line if you're interested in more than one at a time.

Packing and shipping: Prices listed do not include shipping or insurance costs. Unforeseeable things can happen in shipping and given fragile nature of antique electronics, I am not responsible for shipping damages by the shipper. I prefer sending through FedEx or USPS and I have preferred shipping through them, but UPS is also available. I strive to get the radio to you in the same condition as it left here. Proper packing is important. I personally package all radios and use plenty of packing material to make sure it gets to you safely. This may cost more and take more time, but it's worth it to get the radio to you safely. Also, I insure all radios in case there is damage or it gets lost in shipping. This is not my first rodeo for packing & shipping. Over 500 shipped and none have arrived damaged, so goes the streak.

Payment: Once a buyer agrees to purchase a radio through email, I will hold for five days until payment is received. If still unpaid after five days, the radio is once again for sale to other viewers on the website.

Most payments accepted. Money Order, check, PayPal, Zelle, Venmo, even cash if you are picking up the radio in person (please don’t send cash in the mail for any reason)

Returns: I want you to be satisfied with your radio. To that end, please email me with all questions or comments prior to the purchase. I will provide extra pictures and detailed descriptions if needed / wanted. I will take returns, but certain conditions must be met. You must contact me before returning it. We will have a discussion about any damage or shortfall in expectations of the radio in question. It must be shipped within five days after you receive it. It must be returned as packed and arrive in the same condition as I sent it, thus please hang onto all packing materials. Return postage is at your expense and shipping charges are not refunded. Once I receive the radio back in good condition, I will repair the radio if needed and return or I will refund your money whatever the previous discussions outcome was decided on.

Note: I prefer to not ship outside the 48 contiguous United States. I will, however consider all shipping destinations but Alaska, Hawaii and Foreign destinations require a bit more time, effort and funds so plan accordingly.

Thank you for looking here. I hope you can find something you're just dying to have. If not, I'm sure one of the other great sellers here on the Radio Attic will have just the thing you are looking for. Happy Hunting. Enjoy your new (old) radio.
