Atwater Kent 82 Cathedral (1931)
One of the most attractive and desirable cathedrals from the early 30s. This is a seven-tube model. The face of the radio retains the original finish, but the hump has been refinished with exact match. The original grille cloth is perfect with no tears or holes. The original knobs are perfect. The radio chassis has had a full restoration including the replacement of rotten wiring. It now plays well with nice clear sound. Here is your chance to own a really nice example and hard to find in this condition. 19"H x 15"W x 10"D.
$999.99 - Offered for sale at Mark Toppo's Attic.

Zenith 5-S-127 Tombstone (1936)
Here is another one of those great "Black Dial" Zenith tombstones with the multicolored backlit dials. This set has the original finish (enhanced a bit), the original grille cloth, and original wood "Z" knobs. You will not find a better example of this set sporting its original finish. The original speaker has been reconed and the set plays loud and clear on all three bands. The chassis has been restored electronically, replacing all capacitors and out of tolerance resistors. The chassis has been cleaned and is free of dirt and grime. This set will make anyone proud and of course this would make a valuable addition to your collection. 19"H x 13"W x 9"D.
$499.00 - Offered for sale at Kenny Boyd's Attic.

Sparton Jr. 410 Tombstone (1930)
Here is a set that doesnt come up for sale often. This beautiful set has been restored inside and out and looks and plays super. The cabinet has been refinished with a hand rubbed lacquer finish, using correct toners and stains. The repwood grille has been repainted to make this set look new again. Great styling went into this one with its arched top and finials, fluted columns, and beautiful base molding, making this set very desirable. The chassis has been detailed cosmetically to look as good as the cabinet does, and in addition to all of that, the chassis has had an electronic restoration. All capacitors were replaced and out of tolerance resistors replaced. The set was aligned and plays beautifully. 19"H x 15-1/2"W x 10"H.
$425.00 - Offered for sale at Kenny Boyd's Attic.

Fairbanks Morse 6AT4 (1938)
Many times when collectors brag about sets in their collections, a set sure to generate envy is a Fairbanks Morse. These were prizes then and after one good listen, you will understand why, too. This Indianapolis, Indiana, company made in limited numbers a very high quality radio. This particular set is a great example of the company's product. The artisanship of the cabinet is clearly apparent in the photos, fancy veneers, matched. The set has a novel shape, more like a football, and not a rectangular set like so many others. The six tube chassis has received the complete and thorough attentions of my tech. He has replaced all of the old type filters and caps, replacing the weaker tubes with factory fresh ones. The tuning eye is brand new, super green, opens and closes exactly as you would expect it to do. The set is ever so complete with the brand new cord and plug for your safety. Folks this is a great radio to own! 20"W x 12-1/2"H x 11"D.
$399.99 - Offered for sale at Exceptional Radios.

Detrola 100 (1937)
Here is one of my favorite round dial table sets from the later 1930s. This Detrola has a rather unique shape with the added panels on either ends of the radio. The half-round shape, with the fine matched veneers, makes the radio all the more beautiful. My technician has replaced the faulty resister line cord, with a brand new plug and cord and has added a solid-state device to offer you trouble free and safe service for many years to come. The radio has a nice presence, and is very complete with a factory back. These do not come along any better! 14"W x 10"H x 8"D.
$359.99 - Offered for sale at Exceptional Radios.

Silvertone 1908 Tombstone (1936)
This vintage tombstone is a beautiful radio! The dial is really attractive. It has been electronically and cosmetically restored. It works extremely well, and covers the broadcast (550-1600 KC) and two shortwave (1.6-5.5MC & 5.5-15.5MC) bands. It is a six-tube model (6F6, 75, 6A7, 6K7, 6C5, 84) and has an unusual volume control, an inductively coupled unit (I've never seen another like it). The finish is excellent (correct toned and clear satin lacquers) and displays great (any white specs in pics are flash reflections)! Filter caps and all the paper caps were replaced; speaker cone is perfect; it has a great clear sound. Additional pics are available. Model 1908 is not in any of my books so it must be pretty rare (same circuit as the 1904 in Riders at 6-45). This would be a super addition to any collection! 16"H x 11-1/2"W x 8"D, shipping weight 25 pounds.
$349.00 - Offered for sale at Phil Bartell's Attic.

Sentinel 284-I (1946)
This little Bakelite set is definatly an eyecatcher. The cabinet was repainted by a body shop, so the new paint job is nice. The chassis has had an electronic restoration and this little set plays loud and clear with super reception. This little set plays great using its built in loop antenna, so it does not require an external antenna unless you want to use one. This set was restored before I bought it, and has no cracks in the cabinet. This radio will make a great addition to any collection. 10"W x 6"H x 5-1/2"D.
$179.00 - Offered for sale at Kenny Boyd's Attic.

Herald B Horn Speaker (1924)
This horn speaker is a real beauty. It looks almost new and works great. The bell is a paper mache-like material with a crackle finish, the driver base is metal with a crackle finish; the crackle finish is in super condition. Don't miss your chance to get a working horn speaker in great condition for a very reasonable price. The bell is 12-1/2" in diameter, the base is 8" in diameter. 25"H.
$169.00 - Offered for sale at Kenny Boyd's Attic.

Deforest-Crosley Tombstone
This stunning tombstone radio was manufactured in Canada in the mid 1930s under license to the Rogers-Majestic Company. I can't find it in my books, but it is unique in that it has transparent backlit vertical bars on either side of the dial that indicate the incremental tone and volume levels. It is an absolutely beautiful radio with many different wood veneers: light and dark walnuts, tiger and mahogany, plus the metal trim pieces on the sides. It is better looking than the camera can capture due to the flash effect. For example, the picture of the front looks like the left side is lighter than the right, when in fact they are the same. It covers the broadcast band plus one shortwave band (6-16MC). It is a magnificent radio, and would be a highlight of your collection! It is large and quite heavy: 12-3/4"W x 17-1/2"H x 10"D, shipping weight 36 pounds.
$549.00 - Offered for sale at Phil Bartell's Attic.

Stewart Warner 123-1 "Troubador" Mini-Cathedral (1933)
This rare "Troubador" radio has been electronically and cosmetically restored. It works well and covers the broadcast (540-1700 KC) band. The finish is great (clear and toned lacquers) and displays very well, showing off the wonderful grain patterns! It is a small but quite heavy radio and would be a great addition to any collection! Check out its sister, Tombstone model "Aristocrat" also listed on the Attic. 9"W x 11-1/2"H x 7"D, shipping weight 16 pounds.
$399.00 - Offered for sale at Phil Bartell's Attic.

Echophone 40 "Echoette" Mini-Cathedral (1932)
This rare "Echoette" was designed by Echophone and has been electronically and cosmetically restored. It works just fine and covers the broadcast (540-1700 KC) band. The finish is great (clear and toned lacquers) and displays very well, showing off the wonderful grain pattern! The only flaw is a little raised veneer on the sides at the bottom, which does not distract. For the small size it is a heavy radio and would be a great addition to any collection! 11"W x 12-1/2"H x 7"D, shipping weight 22 pounds.
$299.00 - Offered for sale at Phil Bartell's Attic.

FADA 1001 (1947)
This AM Walnut cased Deco radio has been restored to its original beauty. The spectacular natural colored speaker grille and matching wood knobs contrast very nicely with the walnut sides and top and burl front, making it very attractive. The slanted reverse painted dial is original and in great condition. Six tubes power this radio using a loop antenna and new speaker. Reception and tone are FADA. View my Restoration Process for more information. 12"W x 7"H x 7"D.
$200.00 - Offered for sale at Jim Mann's Attic.

This is the first eight-tube model that I have shown at the Attic. These sets are so impressive in size and quality, getting a collector to let go of one is nearly impossible. This example is a combination of American walnut and a couple of exotic veneers that I do not recognize. Zenith was known to buy these exotic woods and add them to their radios at random; the result is stunning! The novel tuning ball on the upper side of the dial is like the early tuning shadow meters, and just predates the tuning-eye radios. This feature and the total compliment of controls made this radio the Caddie of its time. My technician, a lifelong Zenith collector, has given this set an extra dose of care. It will play for years on the level of his restorative efforts. It has been electronically and cosmetically restored, and works extremely well, covering the broadcast (550-1700 KC) band and two shortwave bands (1.5-3.4 MC & 6-18 MC). The piano-like finish is incredible; it is very smooth and looks just super; the wood grain is beautiful! It is a bit darker than shows in the pics as the camera flash lightened it up a little. All tubes were tested and weak ones replaced. It has new filter caps and most of the paper caps were replaced, a new power cord and new grill cloth. Chassis pics are available, just ask. Stromberg Carlson was a premier manufacturer, and this impressive and rare radio would be a great addition to any collection, especially a Stromberg Carlson collection! 15"W x 9"H x 9"D, shipping weight 20 pounds.
$599.00 - Offered for sale at Phil Bartell's Attic.

This is a very nice example of the terrific "Grand Cathedrals" that made Philco radios such classics. The beautiful red mahogany cabinet is detailed with a beautiful burl crown over the arch. The offsetting color and wood graining make the radio look all the more expensive. This is a very nice example, showing some limited wear for its nearly 80 years.
This radio has seen a complete restoration by the attentions of a terrific technician. The filters and caps have been totally replaced and every other component and tubes, tested for factory new values. Lastly, the radio has a brand new power cord and plug for your safety. The radio is a larger set, thus earning the designation of "Grand." With such a large case and speaker, you know that you will have a sweet room full of sound. 18"H x 16"W x 11"D.
$399.99 - Offered for sale at Exceptional Radios.

These models were commonly called "Skyscrapers;" this one is in none of my books, so if anyone knows the model number please let me know and I'll add to listing. When I bought it I was told that it was manufactured between model 814 and model 5312 series. It has had the filter caps replaced and has been cosmetically restored. It works very well, covering the broadcast (550-1700 KC) band and one shortwave band (6-16 MC). All tubes were tested and weak ones replaced; it has new grille cloth and chassis pics are available, just ask. This eye-catching & rare radio would be a great addition to any collection! You can find a picture of it in Greenwood's Vintage Radio, page 213. Two of the pin contacts were replaced in the middle socket, but otherwise it appears to be all original. The Bakelite base is perfect with no cracks or chips. All the nickel hardware is excellent with no pitting or corrosion. The 01A's have all tested very good; one resistor is open and it is sold untested as-is. 10-1/4"W x 3-3/4"D.
$324.99 - Offered for sale at Mark Toppo's Attic.

The radio is a terrific set, six tubes and a fine player. The radio sports trim in black lacquer and fancy knobs. One of the more interesting dials; I have given you an extra photo for your study. This radio has received the total restoration that all of my radios received before they are posted. The repairs included all new filters and caps, tubes and other components as needed. All of my sets have new power cords and plugs for your safety. The condition of this cabinet is original, with a very acceptable finish. There is a number of scuffs on the left side as shown in my picture. On a shelf or bookcase, one would never know. If you are a fan of refinishing some of your radios, you have just found a great set to consider. A fine set ands a great price makes this radio a very fine buy.
$199.99 - Offered for sale at Exceptional Radios.

A different style for FADA, one that captures more of an Art Noveau style than Art Deco. This cream colored Plaskon beauty plays the AM band well, is complete and all original. The scalloped pearlescent handle is perfect; so are the knobs, which have their original felt backing. The dial plastic is in excellent shape, the wonderful FADA dial face is gorgeous, the pointer has no problems, and the back is complete. The glossy case with graceful step-top design has no cracks, chips, hairlines or stress lines; the Plaskon has mellowed in color to a slightly golden around the top and left front sides and the right front top (does not seem to be tube-heat related). One of the screw holes in the back had a small piece that came off and has been glued back soundly and is of course not visible unless you take the cardboard back off. Free offer applies to US mainland.
$185.00 - Offered for sale at Gary Fletcher's Radio Attic.

A repair was done to the door on the right side where the hinge connects. Otherwise the case is excellent showing only minor wear. The original dial cover and escutcheon are in beautiful condition. There are no cracks or chips in the plastic grille area. The original grille cloth is perfect. The pop up antenna with clip works properly. The radio has not been serviced, but when tested there was strong clear reception on all six bands. 17"W x 11"H x 7-1/2"D.
$169.99 - Offered for sale at Mark Toppo's Attic.

It has a textured finish and there are no indication that say it is not original inside or out. The pot metal case is perfect, which is rare in itself. The grille cloth is original and in excellent condition. The speaker has been tested and plays well. 15"H x 10-1/4"H x 7-1/2"D.
$79.99 - Offered for sale at Mark Toppo's Attic.

The set is unpredictable in styling, but very sure of the perfect performance characteristics. In an era of large, this radio offered the unusual good looks in a smaller and compact footprint. The radio is a five tube chassis and a super-het circuit. The radio was designed to be a dual band receiver. My technician has done his complete restoration, including all new filters and caps. Every other component has been inspected and was either perfect in profile or replaced. The radio has a wonderful replacement silk covered power cord and Bakelite plug for safety. When you want a delightful set that has its own unique good looks, this is the set to buy. 16"H x 13"W x 11"D.
$379.99 - Offered for sale at Exceptional Radios.

It's in really great shape with lots of shine and luster! Tubes are checked and ready to go while the capacitors have been replaced and resistors checked for tolerance. The back and tube layout on the bottom are in excellent shape. While chassis and overall case condition show absolutely minimal wear! If you'd like additional pics please let me know.
$160.00 - Offered for sale at Jim Dennis' Attic.

It's been restored electronically and plays real good! You can see the label is in good shape, too. The tubes are strong and a couple may be factory original; no way of telling for sure. This one has been refinished, cloth replaced and is really nice. Knobs are all Philco but tuning knob is a different style. Electronics have been refurbished, critical components replaced. Broadcast band works well but shortwave does not for technical reasons. Dial is nice and sharp. This one for only
$150.00 - Offered for sale at John Kaetz' Attic.

Large dial with red, white, blue stripe, stars. It has been refinished, new grille cloth, the pointer and back repaired. Internally it has had tubes checked, likely to fail components replaced. Broadcast and shortwave bands, both work well. One in similar condition was bid up to $155 on an auction website.
$125.00 - Offered for sale at John Kaetz' Attic.

This Westinghouse AM tube radio works well, complete with civil defense markings. This is a two-tone plastic case, not painted, having a shiny and reflective tan shell (more tan than picture shows) nicely contrasted with a rich maroon concave grille. The radio has a good sound, good selectivity, and as the pictures show, is in all-around excellent condition and all original. There is only a tiny stress mark on the top front edge, a little to left of center, less than an inch long, hard to see and only shows up on picture of the back. The cardboard back is still present. The finish is excellent (already restored when I bought it so not sure how it was done) and displays very well. I used a battery eliminator several years ago and when attached to my outside antenna it pulled in stations just fine. Includes five brass based tipped 01As (one is open, two test weak, two test good). If you don't want the tubes subtract $100 from the price, but if you are going to display it they add a nice touch. If you would rather have five good globe 01As subtract $50. This rare radio would be a great addition to any collection! 29"W x 9-3/4"D, shipping weight 20 pounds.
$1,349.00 - Offered for sale at Phil Bartell's Attic.

All components are mounted on a home-made board and wired for plug & play operation, just add headphones or speaker. I tested it several years ago and it worked fine. When it sells I will re-test before shipping. Pilot kits were made in the late 20s and were very popular for those who wanted to listen to short-wave. A complete set of plug-in coils is included, as well as a reprint of Data Sheet 115 by Pilot Radio's David Grimes. Additional pics are available. This is your chance to own a piece of early radio history! The radio is rare; the power supply is rarer, and the amplifier is about impossible to find! I am the third owner; it was built in 1929 by a fellow in Richmond Virginia; his widowed wife sold it to the fellow I bought it from. 28"W x 9"H x 12"D, shipping weight 38 pounds.
$999.00 - Offered for sale at Phil Bartell's Attic.

Also replaced a few grid wires, antenna and ground wires. Original finish looks good, would need very little work to refinish it if you want to make it look like new. Since some collectors prefer original finish I decided to list as original. It covers the broadcast band only and needs an external antenna or a long wire for best reception. 11"W x 8"D x 14"H. It plays well, the knobs & dial turn and move as they should and the dial lights up the reverse incised numbers as well as the RCA Victor logo. Absolutely no cracks or chips and the front brass trim is shiny and dent free as you can see. Bottom label is 95% intact. The wonderful applique exhibits very light wear and there is a very small area of it missing on the right side at lower left. The tiny white spots in the brown applique are not chips, but actually part of the finished art work as they under the matte finish on the case. Free shipping, insurance and very careful packing to lower 48 states.
$210.00 - Offered for sale at Gary Fletcher's Radio Attic.

It is a Broadcast Band Superheterodyne with five tubes: 12A8GT (mixer/LO), 12K7GT (IF amp), 12Q7GT (2nd det/AVC/1st Audio), 35L6GT (Audio output) and 35Z5GT (rectifier). It delivers great performance in a tiny package. No external antenna and no ground required, and works great with the built-in antenna. The clock works fine; the radio has been electronically (filter caps and all paper caps) and cosmetically restored. The finish is excellent, restored when I bought it (was told it is lacquer) and it displays great! It is better looking than most I have seen on the web. Chassis pics are available. This impressive and rare radio would be a great addition to your collection! 10"W x 9 1/4"H x 6"D, shipping weight is only 10 pounds.
$599.00 - Offered for sale at Phil Bartell's Attic.

It is in none of my books, so it must be rare; I'll bet you will never see another! It is a seven tube Superheterodyne, broadcast band only. It has been electronically (filter and paper caps) and cosmetically restored with new grille cloth. It works fine with a wire antenna. The finish is excellent (already restored when I bought it so not sure how it was done) and displays very well. There is a small chip missing on top at back; the speaker has a small hole that has been repaired (but does not affect sound). Additional pics are available, schematic will be included. This impressive and rare radio would be a great addition to any collection! 14-1/2"W x 18"H x 11"D, shipping weight is 36 pounds.
$499.00 - Offered for sale at Phil Bartell's Attic.

This (large) novelty replica of a 1932 Philco cathedral radio, unlike the miniature cathedrals the dimensions are 8"H x 7-1/2"W. Powered by four "C" batteries or a 6V power supply (not included). Works very well and is in very good cosmetic condition with no chips, cracks or scratches.
$30.00 - Offered for sale at Ben Martin's Novelty Radios.

This is a perfect example of how they merged innovative design and fine electronics. This set has a strong aerodynamic look to it, and resembles a futuristic look. All of the functions perform perfectly and the radio plays well. My technician has done his usual thorough job replacing all of the filters and caps. The tubes are all strong and all other functions operate perfectly. The radio has a very fine finish and is a well-sized table radio. So you have it all along with the ability to preset your favorites courtesy of the renown Detrola Radio. 13"W x 8"H x 7-1/2"D.
$299.99 - Offered for sale at Exceptional Radios.

I have seen a couple variations of this radio, but this (model CX130) is the most collectible in his famous Thunderbird costume. The soft rubber head has gotten darker than the hard plastic hands with age. It was made in Hong Kong and dates from the late 70s. The box shows some minor storage wear, but otherwise the radio is in like new condition. When tested it played well. 10"H.
$39.99 - Offered for sale at Mark Toppo's Attic.

This very nice looking cathedral has been electronically restored and professionally refinished. The reception has plenty of volume on both AM and the Short-Wave bands. The power cord has been replaced with a new one, the knobs and grille cloth are original.
$345.00 - Offered for sale at Ben Martin's Attic.

This little radio is one of 10,000 TH-15s made and has really been taken care of. I'm selling this the way as found. All the Stations are from Chicago area on the push buttons. The chassis only has had the dust blown out. So this with fit into someone's collection very good or to restore. It still plays quite well for having all original capacitors and tubes. The wood cabinet has some runs on it, I'm not sure why or how that would happen. So with that said a super price to pick this Pre-War Philco Transitone!
$79.00 - Offered for sale at Cliff Colson's Attic.
