Emerson "Bookcase/Library" (1947)
(wood tube table radio)

Emerson "Bookcase/Library" (1947)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!
A ONE-DAY WONDER!

This is one of the most unique Emerson Radios that you will find. Emerson is not only known for very reliable radios, the company is also well known for its very creative and impressive cabinet designs. Many of their wood radio cabinets were designed by the renowned Ingraham Clock Cabinet Maker, Raymond Loewy, one of America's greatest industrial designers. Although this not an Ingraham cabinet, the design of this radio is atypical. This is a 1947 Emerson "History of Nations Book Volume" vacuum tube radio. It's in a hard cardboard leather-like cover with artful graphics in near mint condition. It resembles an 8-volume set of faux books with cloth and leather-style bindings. Near mint & all original including the dial, knobs, grille cloth, hinges, & back cover. It features functional small doors, opening one side typically exposes the radio dial and controls, while opening the other side reveals the speaker grille. Put it on a shelf with other books and you would think it is a volume of encyclopedia. The face of the radio has the unique lighted slide rule dial & on/off/volume & dial control knobs. The radio has a five-tube superhet chassis. It was serviced by a technician and is operating like new. The radio is playing very well, tuning all my local channels. 11"W x 8-1/4"H x 6-3/4"D.
