FADA 1000 Bullet "Streamliner" (1946)

 This highly collectable FADA Model 1000 Art Deco "Bullet" Catalin Radio is in excellent original condition. This is the "insert grille" version which is more difficult to find, especially in this "original" condition... no repro parts. They are known as the "bullet" for their Art Deco streamlined design & nicknamed accordingly. The vibrant colors of deep yellow with red trim pieces are extremely eye catching. There are no cracks, chips or hairline fractures nor repairs. The *only* flaw is the small red spot (looks similar to a tube burn) on the top left corner. It could be a factory flaw I suppose, but suspect it is a light heat burn from some other source. It has been in my smoke free collection for several years & never was concerned "as is." I am pricing accordingly. It is being sold as non-working as is most of my Catalins; I don't recommend playing them anyway as we know what the heat does to that material. FADA first manufactured Catalins in 1940s, initially with an AM only, five-tube chassis. This model 1000 is the post-War version. Catalin material was made from a phenolic resin plastic which allowed them to be available in an array of colors, making a quantum from the typical brown/black. This bullet radio style with its sleek rounded lines is an icon of the industrial era. I pack very well & ship promptly. 10-1/2"W x 7"H x 6"D. $1,650.00. (1640403)
