Silvertone was the brand name for radios sold by the Sears and Roebuck company. Sears branded everything under the sun--even houses--without manufacturing anything. During this period, several companies manufactured radios for Silvertone. This particular radio was manufactured by either Detrola or Colonial, and the chassis looks like a Colonial. Silvertone radios were of a high quality, and they used different cabinet and furniture companies to produce many beautiful cabinets. The 4566 is a seven-tube, three-band (SB,SW,police) radio. This is one of Silvertone's "Golden Jubilee" radios with a gold dial and a tuning eye. We replaced all of the capacitors with modern equivalents. The resistors and tubes were checked and replaced where necessary. A new power cord, safety fuse, audio input cable and antenna lead were installed. Gary stripped the cabinet and skillfully restored it, ending up with a gorgeous "piano" lacquer finish. The original knobs, chassis and 6-inch speaker are with the radio. The chassis is very clean and the radio plays with good volume and tone. This radio is gorgeous and will look great in any collection! 17-1/4"W x 11"H x 8-1/2"D. $649.00. (1600670)
