Steinite 261 (1928)

Steinite 261 (1928)
NEW!Early AC radio. Fred Stein had a booming business in Atchison, Kansas and my research shows he built the first commercially available AC (plug in) radio sets, (this one is 1928, most manufacturers started in 1929). This model 261 has a tag inside stating it was restored in 1986 by a man in Albuquerque NM (my birthplace) and all I had to do was clean it and install a set of good tubes. One photo shows current draw at 117VAC line voltage. I ran it last night for three hours. No issues. Tested on headphones and an A-K speaker. It requires a good long antenna to provide good reception. Just behind the volume control is a stepped switch that controls the antenna input. Headphone/speaker plugs on back, also a set of Phono plugs. Simple cabinet that is heavy, made of 1/2" solid wood and 1" solid wood front. Lighted dial. Uses 26, 27, 80, and 71 tubes. I put in a semi rare Magnavox 71 output tube. Included are a history of Steinite and schematic.  $225.00. (1400100)
