Pilot X-1252 AM/SW (1939)

Pilot X-1252 AM/SW (1939)
First time offered on The Attic is this beautiful pre-War Pilot. Nice inlay accents and a nicely designed cabinet. Pilot radios are somewhat difficult to attain. Founded in 1919 by Isidor Goldberg who first offered radio kits for home use, they went bankrupt in 1933 in the Depression and reopened shortly thereafter, with factories in several different countries. In 1963, the Pilot name was bought by Emerson. Their history is quite interesting. This beautiful cabinet has been refinished using the very finest toning and finishing lacquers, producing a lovely finish. The electronics have been completely restored (no shortcut repairs and it is internally fused for your safety), and it plays very nicely on the AM and shortwave bands and receives stations better than many other radios of this era due to its advanced design and internal loop antenna. 13-1/4"W x 8-1/2"H x 8-1/2"D.  $249.00.
