Majestic Mantel Radio (1935)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

This is an unusual little TRF set that I've never seen before, as a matter of fact, I don't recall ever seeing a radio trimmed in Birdseye maple and solid maple like this one. It's just so beautifully unusual; it's like "eye candy." Obviously it has some Art Deco influence, but is still conservative. Majestic produced many, many models through the years not only for themselves, but also for other resellers. I was not able to identify this model, but that's just fine, at least its Majestic nameplate still resides on the Birdseye front. I imagine that since this smallish typically inexpensive TRF set, without massive volume and intended for close proximity radio stations, was probably sold as a bedroom radio. Heaven knows it would look good in any room of the house, though! Its cabinet has been restored using the finest lacquers and the chassis has been electrically restored. 10"W x 8"H x 5-1/2"D.
