General Electric P780 Portable (1959)
(plastic tube portable radio)

General Electric P780 Portable (1959)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

A simple Google search for the GE P780 radio reveals it was an iconic technological breakthrough. Tube radios flourished more than 30 years, but the brilliant General Electric engineers designed a vastly superior product with transistors. This is a heavy, exceptionally high quality radio that is still considered by many to be the classic AM radio. You simply won't find other radios built to similar standards. I've owned several over the years but this is my last and very best example. The case and carry strap are outstanding. The chrome trim is nice and very plentiful like automobiles from this period. It weighs 11 pounds and measures 11"W x 8"H x 4"D.
