Atwater Kent 217 Cathedral (1933)
(wood tube cathedral radio)

Atwater Kent 217 Cathedral (1933)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Atwater Kent radios are highly prized by collectors and for good reason. Refusing to compromise his high standards to compete with lower cost radio manufacturers, company founder Atwater Kent simply closed his business in 1936! Much like Packard automobiles of the same era, every AK radio was without equal in design and quality. AK made some of the best traditional cathedral style radios but this model has a very distinctive arch design which sets it apart from all others. This radio still retains its outstanding original finish with amazing veneer and inlays. I had one of the most talented and experienced technicians on the east coast perform a complete electronic restoration for years of future enjoyment. This radio plays quite well with a long wire antenna. I doubt you'll ever find a nicer example of this model. 16-3/4"W x 14"H x 10-1/2"D.
