RCA BP-10 Personal Radio (1940)
(plastic tube portable radio)

RCA BP-10 Personal Radio (1940)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

In 1940, RCA marked a milestone in the miniaturization of radio with the BP-10 "Personal Radio" -- a highly compact battery-powered portable using their newly introduced miniature low power tubes. This one's in very nice shape, very clean inside and out. None of the usual battery acid corrosion that you find so often on these. The handle is also intact (although I wouldn't recommend carrying it by the handle). There are hairline cracks (see picture) near the hinges, like most of these have, but mechanical integrity is good. You'll be surprised at how well this works -- matching the sensitivity of any normal table radio -- and the tiny (for its day) speaker produces decent quality sound. All electrolytic, paper, and mica capacitors have been replaced, and the radio has had a full RF and IF alignment, so it works perfectly. I've adapted it to run off seven 9-volt batteries for the B battery as well as the D-cell A battery. A full set of new batteries is included, so you can play it right out of the box. Good original leather case included (pics on request). Small and light, so shipping will be cheap! 9"W x 3"H x 3-3/4"D.
