Zenith 12-S-245 Chairside (1938)
(wood chairside radio)

Zenith 12-S-245 Chairside (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here is a hard to find Zenith chairside radio. This radio is sometimes referred to as the "Commander McDonald" chairside as Zenith founder McDonald had one in his office. McDonald thought that this was the way a radio should be made: not to be put against a wall, but by a chair. The larger tube count Zenith shutterdial radios are noted for features and this chairside has them all. Features such as a changing dial that only shows the band playing and electric motor drive are just some of the many that Zenith designed. This radio is in exceptional restored condition. Cabinet is restored and has no missing or replaced veneer. The chassis has had all capacitors replaced as well as any out of tolerance resistors. All of the solid wood Zenith "Z" knobs are original. A new "eye tube" and grille cloth has been installed. The set was aligned and plays beautifully. One nice item Zenith thought about is putting a speaker grille on both ends so the speaker can be easily moved to either side. Two small storage compartments are located on each top side and have a locking arm to keep it opened. Overall a great radio to listen to while relaxing in your favorite chair!
