Zenith 5-G-403 (1940)

Zenith 5-G-403 (1940)
Pre-War 1940 Art Deco Zenith portable in really nice refinished condition. The chassis has been restored, all capacitors and resistors out of tolerance replaced, tubes checked, and the radio is playing fine, picking up all my local AM stations clearly. The photo finish strip on the top of the case is in excellent condition, and the beautiful two tone front really stands out. It has its original Zenith "Z" knobs. The model number is printed on the antenna inside the back. It does not appear to have its Wave Magnet antenna, but the radio plays fine with its original loop antenna. There are two jacks for headphones on the upper right of the case. And there is underneath storage for a battery. This set probably went on many picnics in 1940 and 1941 when people were listening to the growing threat in Europe. It is a heavy radio, even without its battery. A great part of Zenith history, very seldom seen. About 12"W x 10"H x 7"D.  $198.00. (1150607)
