Zenith 5-S-228 Tombstone (1938)
(wood tube tombstone radio)

Zenith 5-S-228 Tombstone (1938)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

Here is a Zenith tombstone you don't come across very often. Unique for its smaller cabinet, yet large black dial, this set offers everything you come to expect from Zenith's tombstone line. The golden oak cabinet is just stunning with gorgeous wood grain, pinstripe inlays, jet black edges, claw feet, and a large Art Deco grille. The large black dial is in excellent condition with all letters and numbers representing station frequencies legible and showing little signs of wear. The brass escutcheon and dial glass are in great shape with no cracks, breaks, or scratches. There is a very, very small hairline on the far left side of the dial (at 5.6) and barely noticeable only when turned on and standing very close. The "Z" pointer is in perfect shape and turns around the dial nice and smooth. All three "Z" knobs are excellent and work as they should. The five tube chassis is clean and has been restored. Excellent reception from Zenith's Long Distance sets on both Broadcast and Shortwave bands. Listen to stations all over the world with lots of volume, warm rich tone, and no hum. Please email me for additional photos or inquiries. 15-1/2"H x 10-1/2"W x 9-1/2"D.
