| Here is a very interesting and really nice wood cased 1930s TRF AM Radio. I could not obtain any information as to who manufactured it. The schematic is close to an Automatic D-5 or an early DeWald. During this time period, many radio manufacturers went bankrupt due to the Depression and I feel this is one. It's a four tube (6D6-6C6-43-25Z5) TRF. Pretty small also. Tuning is very simple and straight forward--right off the tuning condenser shaft. The dial is black with light green trim and lettering. Believe it or not, it even has a dial light making the dial very noticeable when lit. The power cord was changed to an original style braided cord and plug. I attached a length of wire for an antenna and it works fine but, if you live in a rural area you might need an external wire antenna. Remember, this is a TRF (tuned radio frequency) regenerative so it has no AVC. The stronger the station the louder the volume gets. 10-1/2"W x 7"H x 6"D. I think this is a pretty Rare Radio. |
