A bit of radio history: Wells Gardner was one of the very best factories in the later 1930s. They made very few radios under their own label and the Gulbransen label. They were best known for the top of the line deluxe sets marketed by Airline or Montgomery Wards. Many of the most expensive radios in this time, were made in this factory. This model was a deluxe seven-tube model designed for export. The massive transformer is dual tapped for both 110 volts and 220 volts. The radio is in a skyscraper styled tombstone, crafted out of American Walnut. The radio features a HUGE 8 inch oval dial with great detail and multiple dials. The radio appears to have an older refinish, and is in fantastic condition. Worth your time to study all five photos, I doubt you have seen or will see another. My tech did a complete repair of the chassis adding a brand new green tuning eye tube. The radio plays fantastically as you would expect from a deluxe super-het. The radio is very large at 21-3/4"H x 15-3/4"W x 13"D.
