Zenith Royal 500D (1958)
(plastic tube portable radio)

Zenith Royal 500D (1958)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

The Model D is the first of the high performance "Long Distance" Royal 500's. They were all produced with one basic 8AT40Z2 chassis using transistors made by RCA. This chassis added an eighth transistor and an additional un-tuned RF stage that increased signal sensitivity four times. It runs on four "AA" batteries and cost $75.00 new when it was introduced in 1958. This ebony example is in excellent condition. There are no detractors to report as there is full lettering on the back and a very clean inside chassis and battery box. This all says that this radio has led a sheltered life. It plays perfectly with strong, clear tone. A great example. 6"H x 3-1/2"W x 1-3/4"D; weight 16-1/2 ounces.
