Here's a change of pace from my usual fare of loved radios. The Hallicrafters moniker and design has always fascinated me. The S-38D has a metal case, three S/W bands and AM, of course. The lower scale is a 0 to 100 log scale band spread for greater station selectivity. To me, they were atypical in "the look" of the day. They seemed so exotic and space age that with all the bands to select from who knows maybe you'd contact Martians. Well, that was as a kid. They're still interesting! This model has been with me for years. Electronically reconditioned and aligned, with capacitors, out of tolerance resistors replaced. All five tubes are strong, external antenna with factory hank included. The longer the extension the better the reception. Tube layout is on the bottom.
