| If you look at my radios very often you'll notice it's rare for me to fall in love with wood! However, there are exceptions and this Silvertone 6424 is one of them. The wood is absolutely original and has not been refinished! It's just so rich in veneer blends and style. There is a small break at the top left just above the speaker. It's so insignificant that I would not and did not touch it! This Silvertone has been electronically reconditioned aligned and plays beautifully on AM, of course, and SW, too! The Shortwave frequency in 2014 ain't what it used to be! Interestingly, my favorite station is 1590 kc and I do have to use the SW band to get to it because this Silvertone AM frequency goes to 1550 kc. This is truly a Jim Dennis "Scale of Beauty" No frills, fads or fancy stuff Special! |
