Atwater Kent 788 Console (1934)
(wood tube console radio w/SW)

Atwater Kent 788 Console (1934)

THIS RADIO HAS BEEN SOLD!

BC + 3SW. This is one of those great later Atwater Kent consoles that are so few and far between. The cabinet is a fantastic combination of exotic veneers and woodworking, just stunning with its original grille cloth and knobs. The chassis is one of the high-end sets with a silencing control and very sensitive tuning shadowgraph. The split level chassis is a major project to restore properly, and you are unlikely to find another that is in working condition. All of the bad rubber wiring has been replaced, the RF sub-chassis has been removed and the tuning mechanism rebuilt to silk-smooth operation, all the paper and electrolytic capacitors replaced and the set aligned, the performance is fantastic! This unique set would be a special addition to any collection that you would be unlikely to find another anywhere! 40"H x 25"W x 15"D.
