| This nice looking S-118 Hallicrafters short-wave radio is a fine receiver. It looks a lot like the S-120 but is built much different. For one it has five tubes and two diode rectifiers. Some of the tubes perform double duty which makes this perform like an eight-tube radio. It also has five bands which cover 190 KHz to 30 MHz. The chassis is like new inside and out. The dial is excellent. There are some light scratches on the front aluminum. The outer case appears to be repainted, but is in good condition with a couple of scratches. No dents or cracks. I have replaced the two diodes and all the electrolyte caps. There are no wax caps in this one. I also replaced the power cord as well. All the tubes tests very good. I also moved the ferrite antenna inside the case so the box would not be crushed from shipping. The radio has been aligned for peak performance. Included is the Operating Manual with Service Instructions. |
