Al started repairing radios 1946 while in high school. Retiring, after 33 years in aerospace electrical and avionics design in 1986, he got back into radio restoration and collecting. Altogether he has restored, sold and collected many vintage radios.

All electrolytic and paper capacitors are replaced along with any other faulty or out-of-tolerance parts including tubes.. RF and IF circuits are aligned to provide peak performance and accurate tuning. Dials, dial mechanisms, knobs, power cords, and grille cloth are repaired or replaced as needed.

His electronic repairs will provide many more hours of radio listening pleasure and cabinets are repaired and refinished as necessary to provide a good looking addition to your home or office.

1934 tombstone style. AM broadcast band plus 5.5 to 16 mHz shortwave band. Five-tube transformer type. Refinished and the grille cloth was replaced. New correct linen covered line cord. RCA 87T AM/SW (1937)

Large wood table model radio. AM and SW reception. AC transformer operated. Electronics were restored with all paper capacitors replaced and electrolytic capacitors bypassed. Tubes and other components out of tolerance were replaced. Tuned circuits were aligned to peak up performance and to assure dial accuracy. The cabinet was repaired and refinished as necessary retaining the original colors. The power cord and plug were replaced for safety. Radio made by Gilfillan Brothers Inc., an early manufacturer located in Los Angeles. Five-tube AM radio in an attractive wrap around walnut decorated wood case. Chassis restoration included replacing any damaged components, replacing paper and electrolytic capacitors, testing and replacing tubes as needed, and aligning tuned circuits. For safety, the power cord and plug were replaced. The cabinet was refinished. Knobs are not original but generic of the right color and period. Radio plays well.
